I was supposed to stay 2 days in Pasto, and ended up staying for a month. Sometimes, when you find those great atmosphere hostels where you feel at home you just stay. I don’t usually write location articles, but La Bohemia’s owners are so nice and helpful that I couldn’t avoid it. In addition to it, Pasto, the main city of the Nariño region has so many beautiful places to explore! La Bohemia hostel is situated at Carrera 18, No 16-02 (20 meters from where Carrera 18 meets Calle 17).

La Bohemia is great for a combination of two reasons which fuel each other: Amazing owners who create a great atmosphere, and a beautiful home.

The owners are the coolest couple ever! Antony, originally from the Basque region in France, and his wife Monica are just an amazing couple who make you feel at home. They are both fun and super friendly, which creates a great community like the atmosphere around the house. The tourists who stay at the home are cooler than the average ones you will find in big cities since the place attracts special people, and Pasto, in general, attracts travelers who are interested in more than parties and having fun, but more in Nature and getting to know the local culture. You won’t feel alone at La Bohemia, and if you do, just get to the kitchen and make coffee, it’s impossible not to start speaking with someone while there.

The house itself is cosy and well decorated. I stayed in the blue room, with its cool windows.

The neighborhood is close to the city center (just like in other Colombian cities, try to avoid walking there alone late at night), and since Pasto is much smaller than Bogota/Medellin/Cali everything is within a walking distance. The balcony outside has some cool views!

Now for Nariño, Pasto’s geographical department. After a week of trekking and getting to know the region, it quickly became my favorite region in Colombia. I have visited so many places that are non-touristic and magical. Speak with Antony before you choose your next daily trip, as he knows everything to get you there quickly and economically. My favorites in the region are “Laguna Verde”, an amazing day trip from Pasto involving walking a few hours in 4,000 meters rugged terrain (The walk is not hard, but you will probably get totally wet in winter since it rains constantly after 12 pm). This is my favorite.

I also recommend a fun trip to “Laguna la Cocha”, the best place to get a great Trout and rice lunch and make new friends

There are also many villages around Pasto, and my favorites are Sandona (buy your coffee package there), and enjoy the Pueblo with stairs going all the way to a waterfall.

Stairway to heaven

In conclusion, go to Pasto, stay for a while, and just experience La Bohemia, there is a reason why tourists who plan to spend a day there stay for weeks, and keep on coming back!

When you give a opinion ( negative) at least give a solution or a goid review. Right now you are living in madrid, well there are having the same or worst problem with the air( also paris) You are feeling in your skin. I wont go to israel. I feel threathened a country that promotes freedom, but oppressed the Palestina country is a contradiction, i only feel that telavid is a cosmopolite city. • Hey Fernando,
There are many many positive things mentioned in the article, Colombia is my favorite country in the world.
Every country has its problems (Including Spain and Israel), and the goal is to keep on improving.
Bienvenido a Israel one day, and take care.
